CONNECT Direct 1696 - Orange & Mercury one to one UK calls from just 3p per min! As far as I know, this is not allowed on pay as you go phones.

The service is called CONNECT Direct 1696 and is offered by Telco Global Communications Limited, a subsidiary of Econophone in the USA, the largest low-call operator in the USA, now available in the UK following a multi - million pound investment in network technology.
By dialling 0800 594 1694 or 1695 from your mobile, 1696 from your BT phone or 0800 594 1693 from your cable phone (this number should be put into your phone memory), your call will connect to our network, and you will be invited to enter the number you require, which will then connect without you pressing any more buttons on your phone. From your home or business this number will then connect to our network and you simply dial your number. Business users have their pabx programmed free, which means that they do not have to pre-enter any codes or numbers to receive our discounts.
Once connected, your mobile calls will be itemised and will cost you just 5.3p (peak) per min, or 2.9p (off peak) including vat. For all UK, landline local, regional or national calls, these calls are free from your mobile utilising the 0800 Service with no charges from Orange or One 2 One. Dialling a mobile from your home or business can save you 40%, with CONNECT Direct. You receive free, a monthly itemised call statement showing all calls made from your mobile(s).
The service is offered to residential and business users. Business users should request a business application form, whereby they can enter their home telephone numbers as well to make call savings
There is - no deposit or pre-payment required, no charge for itemised billing, no hidden costs, no cancellation costs, no monthly or other subscription costs such as BT or Cable & Wireless calling plans whereby you pay to save money. With us you save all the time!
The CONNECT Direct 1696 service is not just limited to calls made from mobiles. We offer savings of up to 33% on calls from BT or Cable phones on regional and national calls, savings of 40% on calls made to mobiles, and up to 66% on International calls, e.g..............

Do I have to change my telephone number etc? - No
You retain your existing BT or Cable phone line and telephone number and continue to pay your line rental to them. We offer no savings on local calls. However we have no minimum call charge unlike our competitors. Did you know, that BT advertise 1p per min for weekend local calls, yet charge a minimum of 5p even though you are only on the line for 30 seconds, the same as with weekday or evening calls! With us, 30 second weekend national call or even fax costs just 1p, or just 2p per minute. We have no minimum call charge unlike BT!
